Aerial Sound, Floating Sound and Sound + Art: Rethinking the Sound Experience

What happens when you change the setting? The sound remains the same. But your experience of it can change completely. That's the idea behind some of the experiences we are creating at Sound With Sri.

Aerial sound

Instead of lying on a conventional mat, imagine being gently supported in an aerial hammock while listening to sound. The body is positioned differently. The space feels different. And suddenly, something familiar becomes unfamiliar again.

Floating sound

Change the environment. Remove some of the usual distractions. Give yourself permission to simply float, listen and be still. The sound remains at the centre, but the physical experience becomes part of the story.

Sound and art

In a sound and watercolour experience, participants first listen. Then the sound ends. There is a moment of silence. And only then does the creative part begin. The artwork isn't about creating something beautiful. It is simply a way of noticing what remains.

Rethinking the sound experience

These aren't ways of making sound meditation more complicated. They are ways of asking a simple question: what else can happen when we create space to listen?
